This season, SFUYSA began its Challenge League which pits outstanding players
selected from the soccer clubs representing the "North" part of their region
against players from clubs representing the "South". From over 30 teams and over
350 players, four of our U13 boys were selected by opposing coaches and the
League to represent the North and participate in the U13/U14 Challenge League
game on September 7th. The game was coached by Ft. Lauderdale Strikers staff and
was played at Lockhart Stadium before the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers/San Antonio
Scorpions game that evening. The game was well played and our boys were able to
make a positive impact on the game and help the "North" team beat the "South"
team 4-2. Congratulations to Niko Luna, Louie DiRienzo, Patrick Kennedy, and
Ulises Gonzalez for their selection and for showcasing the Elite style of play!

Most people understand the importance that self-confidence plays in athletes delivering a peak performance, or in living up to one's potential in areas outside of athletics. We also know how fragile this self-confidence can be, especially for young athletes. However, many parents are not fully aware of the role they should play in building and maintaining a child's confidence. Elite Soccer Academy was delighted to recently have David Benzel from “Growing Champions for Life” (www.growingchampionsforlife.com) come to our Club and speak to our families regarding this very important topic. Mr. Benzel is well-renowned for his work with parent/athlete and coach/athlete relationships and he is an advisor and partner with the Florida Youth Soccer Association. The workshop addressed the foundations of our children’s self-belief and taught the families that attended powerful strategies for helping our boys and girls take charge of personal self-confidence in every situation. This is just one additional way that Elite is working with our “family” in addressing the total development of our players both on and off the soccer field. If you were fortunate enough to attend this event, please share your experience with the other members of the Elite family as we consider this to be one of the essential ingredients to maximizing player development. We are also looking forward to bring Mr. Benzel back in mid to late January 2013 for another workshop incorporating and building upon the information provided. Please continue to check our website and other Club communication for details regarding this important and exciting event so that everyone can attend.
